Liberty & Unity in the "Fourth Watch"

Why are liberty, unity and the fourth watch important today? Look at Mark 6:48, (Amplified Bible) “And having seen that they were troubled and tormented in their rowing, for the wind was against them, about the fourth watch of the night, (between 3:00 - 6:00 am) He came to them, walking directly on the sea. And He acted as if He meant to pass by them.” Isn’t that about where we are today, those early morning hours, the darkest part of the night, the fourth watch. It is a place where we need liberty and unity. It is a time to come together as a church and certainly as a nation.

Here is a simple, yet profound and miraculous story about Jesus and his disciples. The point of the story is simply this: Jesus is always present and available in every time of need! Even in the fourth watch! Whatever life storm we face, whenever we face it, He is already there. Notice also, besides knowing Jesus is present and available to us; we must recognize it is He and call Him into our storm before He will come to us. The text says, He acted like He was going to pass them by. God does not force Himself into our storms. Jesus was present for them but was waiting to hear their cry for help. He knows we need Him today, but do we know we need Him? Do we really believe He is not, “an answer,” but “the answer?”

It is the fourth watch, it is the middle of the night in our land. It is then, in the still and quiet of the night that God speaks into our storms, and brings His peace, calming our inner turmoil. The wind ceases. The waves subside. Our vision becomes clear, thanks to the ability to call out into the darkness of the night.

God is walking by our fourth watch in different ways in different places, but the message is always the same. "I WANT UNITY IN MY BODY. I WANT UNITY BETWEEN MY PEOPLE. I WANT UNITY BETWEEN ALL GROUPS OF BELIVERS. I WANT ALL TO COME TOGETHER AND DECLARE MY GLORY OUTSIDE THE WALLS OF THEIR HOUSE."

God is very strongly declaring that He wants each group or congregation to begin to work together and pull together as an army would do. He has an assignment for each person, and we need to know where He has called us to in our church and our individual lives and stand there. God has been building small fires in many places and He is now ready to merge them together into one blazing flame, a flame that will be seen and felt all over the land, from north to south and east to west. It is the fourth watch, time to call Him into our storm.

There is a place that God wants to take all of us, not just those in far off places. It is a place of service, it is a place that He has prepared and only you can fill the gap in that place. That tugging in your spirit that you feel, it comes from the Father's hand touching you and drawing your spirit into an even closer and more intimate relationship with Him. He is saying to us that now is the time to step out of the shadows and let the light of who we are shine forth. Now is the time to answer the call He has placed in you. The many years of the growth of His love and knowledge in you have not been for retention, but for a time of pouring forth and that time is now, the fourth watch. The Spirit of the Lord desires to explode in your life, rejoice in what you see and call forth into the heavens with a loud voice as we prepare to receive what God has for us all, in our own lands. Don't miss what God wants you to have, be willing to be spent by Him. Church, stand in unity. Stand in liberty. Stand in that place of strength that unity brings. Join with those that God has placed all over this earth just for such a time as this. His Kingdom is about to reign and rule forever.

New believers, old believers and even non-believers desire to secure the fourth watch with liberty and unity. We need the victory of Christ's "Abundant Life" in these darkened times. (John 10:10) But alas, many do not seem to find this Liberty that God's Word so freely declares. How can we improve our daily walk in struggling times?

First, let's look at John 8:31 and 32. Vs 31 "Then said Jesus to those Jews who believed on Him. If you continue in My Word, then are you My disciples indeed;" Vs 32 "And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free."

Pilate once said, " What is truth?" Jesus said in John 17 "your word in truth." It is by living according to every word of God, meditating on it, reading, and studying it. Hiding it in your heart, believing and obeying it, that we come into God's Victory and Abundant Life. There are no short cuts or substitutes for God's Word!

In the Word we read of Adam and Eve's creation and dominion and authority. When they sinned and fell, they forfeited their authority to Satan, who then became "the god of this world."

Jesus Christ came, and bought us back from Satan's dominion with His shed blood. Satan now has no power or authority over those who receive Christ as Savior and Lord! We now are free from Satan and his demons, have eternal life, fellowship with God, and power and authority. Know that you are a Child of God! Your Identity is no longer self, but Christ. Never forget this, for Satan will try to challenge your Identity. Even in the fourth watch we can have liberty and unity by calling out to God, He is close by, waiting to hear from us.

Here are some steps to Deliverance from “fourth watch” darkness into Christ's Liberty:

1. Get rid of any involvement that asks you to step outside of God’s kingdom. Pray and ask God to show you any part of Satan's kingdom you need to renounce and get freedom from. He will gladly forgive and free you!

2. Get into the truth of God's Word. Saturate yourself with it. You will learn who God is and who you are, and that Satan is defeated.

3. Walk in God's Forgiveness. Jesus said, if we forgive others, God will forgive us. If we do not forgive others, God cannot forgive us.

4. Live in God's Submission. Pride, unbelief, immorality, and rebellion are four root sins that have doomed many.

5. We must walk in humility. Confess all known and unknown sins. Jesus says in Revelation 16:15; "Behold I come as a thief. Blessed is he who watches and keeps his garments, lest he walk naked, and they see his shame." It is the “FOURTH WTCH.”

Let’s stand guard in the fourth watch, declaring unity and liberty in Christ. Let us cast aside the curse of the past and call out to God, walking hand in hand with Him in abundant life.
